Meno Palooza, What I learned…
Health & Wellness HRTTHE LAST GENERATION TO SUFFER FROM MENOPAUSE
This conference blew me away, as the experts provided us with a wealth of education on the importance of managing our hormones, starting in our 30s & 40s, so that we know our baseline. I wish I had realized this at that age. This doesn’t mean you need to start therapy immediately; it means you want to establish a baseline for your optimal health as you age. This is not saying that hormone therapies are a goal to keep you from aging. It’s about aging in a healthy way to avoid diseases and to minimize the damage of premenopause and menopause. That’s it!
My notes from the conference are below. WARNING, THEY ARE A LITTLE WONKY. NO TIME TO PROOFREAD. It isn’t always easy to take notes so that some things might be confusing. The EXPERTS WHO pulled this seminar together in Chicago have a website. I believe they will share an overview. They also list the presenters’ names in this space. Mid Life Upgrade
The latest doctor gossip, I want to dismantle…
Your doctor, gynecologist, endocrinologist, or general doctor might say this to you: “Don’t listen to the doctors on social media.” They are only out there to make more money, and they are not experts in their fields. This is an absolutely false statement. There are bad actors out there, so I can’t say it isn’t happening. However, based on my research, the doctors I have chosen to follow are all women in my age group. These doctors are all double and triple-board certified in their fields of expertise or across multiple fields. They are science-based doctors who continue to learn, staying up to date on the latest research across all their fields.
They personally experienced or are experiencing Peri-Menopause, or Menopause. They, too, have or are facing their own decline, finding that there is not much focus on women’s health. Many discovered the lack of support as their own mothers declined and had no idea some things could be done to minimize unhealthy aging, such as chronic UTI’s, bone density decline, weight gain, and more. All of this combined will shorten your life, with the last few years of your life possibly spent in a bed.
Sex, Love & Menopause (Julie Health Food Coach) Vegen suffered terrible peri-menopause; she never knew why, and we do not know how to manage this. (I thought they would suffer less, as they eat a lot of tofu. Not true)
Heads and Tails, Jay & Kate White, psychologists and OB-GYNs; they are comical and have a successful podcast.
We miss opportunities to enhance our lives with dopamine.
Dopamine is essential to our well-being. Too many women are on antidepressants. Hormone therapy should be the first line of defense, versus antidepressants.

Points of Interest
- Women were excluded from most clinical trials. They were not included in the studies until the 1990s. Blood pressure medication trials for heart disease were conducted only on men for years.
- The male body was universal. They could report jaw pain and have a conclusion, while a women was told she had anxiety.
- When they studied women for hormones, they began with a 63-year-old woman. This was not a correct study. The study should have been for people aged 40-60 years.
- 1/3 of our lives are in menopause. We need to live well and not in nursing homes.
- Studies show that women cost the workforce $1.8 billion due to lack of sleep and hot flashes.
- Antidepressants are prescribed as a Band-Aid, while the real problem is the lack of hormones.
- 2023 The first women’s health initiative to increase funding to study women’s health
